5 fuel efficient cars in Malaysia
One of the things Malaysians look for in a car is fuel efficiency. As prices now can change from a weekly basis, fuel efficient cars are more important than ever. So here are 5 fuel efficient cars in Malaysia. We will be discussing the most fuel efficient and decked out variants of each model based on their specs. Of course, individual experiences may differ.
When talking about fuel efficiency, one of the car brands that needs mentioning is Perodua. So it is no surprise three of the most fuel efficient cars are from Perodua.
Perodua Axia 1.0 Style
The cheapest at RM41k, the Perodua Axia 1.0 Style comes with a 1KR-VE engine that consumes 4.63 ℓ per 100km. The Axia also has smart entry and a push/start button but does not come with the eco-idle function. The Axia has four stars on the ASEAN NCAP Safety Rating.
Perodua Bezza 1.3
Our second Perodua car on the list, the Bezza priced at RM48k, has a 2NR-VE engine that consumes 4.54 ℓ per 100km which is slightly better than the Axia. Like the Axia, it also has smart entry and a push/start button but unlike the Axia, the Bezza has a 5-star ASEAN NCAP Safety Rating.
Perodua Myvi AV 1.5
When talking about Perodua, how can we not discuss the Myvi. Malaysia’s most beloved or hated car. Powered by the same 2NR-VE engine as the Bezza, and has the same 5-star ASEAN NCAP Safety Rating. It does guzzle a bit more fuel at 4.98 ℓ per 100km. It also comes with front corner sensors, six airbags, and a built in toll reader. It also is the priciest car so far at RM52k.
Mazda 2 Skyactiv
The first car to break the RM100k mark, the Mazda 2 Sedan 1.5L comes with the new Skyactiv-G 1.5L engine designed to improve both fuel efficiency and eco-friendliness. As the Skyactiv-body is engineered to be lightweight, the engine consumes 5.2ℓ per 100km. Like the Axia, it has a 4-star ASEAN NCAP Safety Rating.
Honda City 1.5 RS
The only hybrid on our list and also the priciest at RM105.9k, the Honda City RS is a very fuel efficient car. The engine consumes a shocking 3.6 ℓ per100km! When it comes to fuel efficiency, the Honda 1.5 RS is certainly one of the best. Combine that with a 5-star ASEAN NCAP Safety Rating, and multi angle rear view cameras, and other comforts, the Honda City 1.5 RS is certainly one of the best cars in Malaysia.

Which is better in overall specs? Myvi av or bezza?
Hi Danqim, we believe the Myvi AV is better because it is better equipped. Of course, that means the price tag is heftier.
