BMW M8 Coupe and M8 Gran Coupe Make Grand Entrance into Malaysia
BMW M8 Coupe 2-door and M8 Gran Coupe 4-door have surfaced in the Malaysian Premium Cars market, introduced proper by BMW Malaysia at the M Town festivity last week. Several M models were introduced at M Town including the X3M, X4M and M850i (Coupe and Gran Coupe).
What’s the buzz with the M8 and M8 Gran Coupe? As the M suggest, the two M8 carry M-specific front apron, M decorative mesh on the kidney grille with double slats. M8 designation and slim Laserlight headlights.
At the side, there are mirrors in M twin-stalk style to pair with the frameless windows and Shadow Line. Then, there’s flared aluminium wings with M gills and M8 emblem. From the rear, the M8s have the M rear spoiler, rear diffuser and exhaust with twin tailpipes and chrome trims. On top of the above, there’s a CFRP carbon fiber roof, 20-inch 810 M bi-color wheels and an auto tailgate.
Inside, the M Sport Merino seats are set low and come with adjustable functions. The cabin features the seats with illuminated M logo, full-leather dashboard, door trim panels and M8 insignias on the door entry sills. Booth space for the Coupe is 420 liters and 440 liters on the Gran Coupe. Other interior highlights include 12.3-in instrument cluster, 10.25-in touchscreem. HUD, iDrive Touch Controller. M Mode selector, Personal Voice Assistant, M-specific gearshift lever knob, M seat belts and 16-speaker 464w Harman Kardon surround sound system. M Mode is utilized to activate the drive settings.
The M8s take up a 4.4l V8 bi-turbo to pump 600 hp, making the M8 most powerful ever. Achieving the century sprint in merely 3.3 seconds, the high-revving V8 engine impresses with a top speed of 250 km/h (limited), peak torque of 750 Nm at 1,800 – 5,600 rpm. Power is transmitted via a new eight-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic, operated sequentially via the gear selector in S mode, or manually via paddles on the steering. Drive modes available are Comfort, Sport and Sport Plus, along with a choice of all-wheel drive or two-wheel drive setting.
For this much power, the M8 is fitted with M integrated brake system, which combines brake activation, booster and control. This ensures dependable stopping power. Both M8s feature M Compound brakes with blue calipers as standard.
A myriad of assistance systems come in tact with the M8 including Active Cruise Control with Stop&Go function and Personal CoPilot driver assistance suite (Driving Assistant Professional, Parking Assistant Plus, Lane Keeping Assistant with side collision protection, Lane Change Assistant, Crossing-traffic Warning and Reversing Assistant).
The M8s are offered in seven colors: Alpine White, Brands Hatch Grey, Marina Bay Blue, Motegi Red, Black Sapphire, Donington Grey and Barcelona Blue. Both interiors are decked in Merino Leather, either Black or Silverstone. The M8 Coupe has a price tag of. RM 1,452,960.88 and the Gran Coupe is RM 1,455,145.25. A further personalization for the M8, in the form of the BMW Individual Frozen Bluestone exterior hue at an extra RM 30,000.
