Dongfeng 007 variants compared and explained

Dongfeng 007 review: Variants, range, and what you need to know

The Dongfeng 007 is offered in three variants in Singapore. Each variant targets a slightly different type of buyer, depending on performance needs and budget.

All variants come with DC : CCS2 200kW / AC: TYPE 2 6.6kW charging and LFP batteries with a 9-min charging time (80%).

Prestige

This is the entry point to the 007 range. It uses a rear-wheel-drive setup with a smaller battery, offering a more accessible price while still delivering the core EV experience. It suits drivers who prioritise daily commuting and value efficiency over outright performance.

Premium

The Premium variant is the balance point of the range. It comes with a larger battery, stronger performance, and longer driving range. For most buyers, this version offers the best mix of power, range, and everyday usability.

Performance

The Performance variant adds dual-motor all-wheel drive and significantly higher output. Acceleration is quick, and grip is improved, especially during hard launches or wet conditions. This version is aimed at buyers who want strong performance without moving up to a much higher price bracket.

Design and interior

The Dongfeng 007 has a low, wide stance with a smooth roofline and liftback tailgate. The design is clean rather than aggressive, with flush door handles and slim lighting elements. It looks modern without trying too hard.

Inside, the cabin focuses on simplicity and space. A large central touchscreen handles most vehicle functions, while the digital instrument display keeps essential driving information clear. Materials feel solid, and higher variants offer features such as ventilated seats and a panoramic glass roof.

The liftback design also adds practicality. The boot opening is wide, making it easier to load larger items compared to a traditional sedan.

Driving and performance

On the road, the Dongfeng 007 prioritises smoothness and stability. Power delivery is linear, especially in the Prestige and Premium variants, which suits urban driving and highway cruising. The Performance variant is noticeably quicker, with strong acceleration that feels confident rather than abrupt.

Ride quality is composed, even over uneven surfaces. The suspension is tuned more for comfort than sharp handling, which aligns well with Singapore’s road conditions. Steering is light at low speeds and stable on expressways, making the 007 easy to live with day to day.

Noise insulation is also good for the class. At cruising speeds, the cabin remains quiet, adding to the premium feel.

Battery, charging, and ownership

The Dongfeng 007 supports DC fast charging, allowing quick top-ups during longer trips. AC charging is suitable for overnight home charging, while features such as Vehicle-to-Load add extra flexibility for outdoor or emergency use.

Running costs are expected to be lower than comparable petrol sedans, especially for daily commuting, though buyers should still consider charging access and usage patterns.

Dongfeng 007 review: Variants, range, and what you need to know

The Dongfeng 007 makes sense for buyers who want a well-rounded electric sedan with modern design, good range, and a comfortable driving experience. The Prestige variant suits cost-conscious buyers moving into EV ownership. The Premium variant is likely the best choice for most drivers, offering strong range and performance without excess. The Performance variant is for those who value acceleration and all-wheel drive.

It may not have the longest features list or advanced driver assistance systems compared to some rivals, but it delivers where it matters most. Smooth driving, usable range, everyday comfort, and it looks pretty damn good.

If you are exploring electric sedans in Singapore and want a fresh alternative, the Dongfeng 007 is worth considering.
