Starting <\/span><b>22 September 2025<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, clearing immigration at Johor\u2019s land checkpoints will get faster and more convenient with the introduction of <\/span><b>QR code clearance<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> under Malaysia\u2019s new <\/span><b>National Integrated Immigration System (NIISe)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here\u2019s what you need to know before your next drive into Malaysia.<\/span>\r\n<h2><b>What is QR code immigration clearance?<\/b><\/h2>\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Instead of presenting your passport at the booth, travellers can now generate a <\/span><b>QR code via the MyNIISe mobile app<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. This QR code is scanned by immigration officers to complete clearance.<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The best part? If you\u2019re travelling in a group by car, <\/span><b>one QR code can be generated for the entire group<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, making the process quicker and reducing congestion at the checkpoints.<\/span>\r\n<h2><b>Who is able to use this new system?<\/b><\/h2>\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">QR code immigration for non-citizens, with foreigners from 63 countries and territories able to use the NIISe system.\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These also include travellers from <\/span><b>China<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><b>US<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><b>Japan <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and <\/span><b>Australia <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">among others.<\/span>\r\n<h2><b>Where will it be implemented?<\/b><\/h2>\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The QR code system will first be rolled out at:<\/span>\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Johor land checkpoints<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Causeway and Second Link) from <\/span><b>22 September 2025<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\r\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Major Malaysian airports in phases, including <\/span><b>KLIA 1 &amp; 2, Penang, Kota Kinabalu, and Kuching<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\r\n<\/span><\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The trial period will run for five months until <\/span><b>28 February 2026<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span>\r\n<h2><b>Do I still need to bring my passport?<\/b><\/h2>\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Yes. Even though QR codes will be used for clearance, Malaysia\u2019s immigration authorities stress that <\/span><b>travellers must still carry passports and other required travel documents<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.
