Here's what we have gathered from various sources:\r\n

1,000 engineers are working on the Apple car<\/h2>\r\nSince it was kicked off in 2014, Project Titan has involved the work of some 1,000 engineers, some of which formerly worked at Tesla.\u00a0Interestingly enough, so many\u00a0engineers have left Tesla to work for the iPhone manufacturer that Elon Musk has called Apple \u201cthe Tesla graveyard<\/a>\".\u00a0Apple also hired<\/a> David Masiukiewicz, formerly Tesla\u2019s senior CNC programmer for hardware prototypes, and Kevin Harvey, formerly Andretti Autosport\u2019s CNC machine shop supervisor.\r\n

Strong evidence that the Apple car will be autonomous<\/h2>\r\nAn inside source<\/a> working at Apple has claimed that the Apple car will \"change the landscape and give Tesla a run for its money\". This hints strongly at the Apple Car becoming a direct competitor to Tesla's Model S.\r\n

Potentially being developed in a\u00a0secret lab in Berlin<\/h2>\r\nGerman publication Frankfurter Allgemeine reported<\/a>\u00a0that Apple is running a secret laboratory in the middle of Berlin to develop the car.\r\n

Vienna provided that glimmer of hope for the Apple Car after multiple rejections<\/h2>\r\nAccording to German news source Handelsblatt<\/a>, German carmakers Daimler and BMW have ended talks with Apple after disagreements over leadership of the project and, above all, which company would have ownership of the data. Earlier this year,\u00a0Frankfurter\u00a0Allgemeine reported that Apple may be partnering up<\/a> with the vehicle engineering and contracting firm Magna, which is based in Vienna, Austria.\r\n

Senior Vice President of Technologies Bob Mansfield is in charge<\/h2>\r\nAppointed to lead the car project in July<\/a>, Bob Mansfield is Apple\u2019s head of hardware development. Prior to that, he was in charge of the company\u2019s Macs and iPads.\r\n

Projected release of the Apple Car set for 2021<\/h2>\r\nThat target date was originally 2019, according to Wall Street Journal<\/a>.
