China is no foreigner to innovation and mass production -- Entrepreneur Qian Jin\u00a0founded Navidog, a mobile navigation device that offers street view and displays the route and time to destination, in 2005.\u00a0Navidog\u2019s user base expanded exponentially\u00a0from ground zero\u00a0to over 100 million, before being\u00a0acquired by digital map provider NaviInfo in 2013.\r\n\r\nThe following year, Qian founded Beijing Mobnote Technology to make a dash cam called <em>Goluk<\/em>, a venture which secured Pre-A and Series A financing from China\u2019s Innovation Works and the Foxconn Technology Group.\r\n\r\nTraditional dash cams are utilised solely\u00a0to record traffic incidents.\u00a0To make the increasingly obsolete incident recorder applicable to a wider user base\u00a0and more receptive by the public, Qian decided to connect dash cams to the internet and let user generated content (UGC) create value for his user base.\r\n\r\nHe states two key features that distinguish <em>Goluk<\/em> from its competitors:\r\n<ol>\r\n \t<li>Aside from its primary purpose of\u00a0automatically recording accidents on the road, users may also\u00a0first-handedly\u00a0record \u201cuncivilized behaviors\u201d of others. A single press of the button will automatically save a 12-second video from six seconds before the press to six seconds after.\u00a0<em>Goluk<\/em>\u00a0acts as an effective monitor that can provide key evidence of road incidents in the event of disputes over right of passage.<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Goluk can be used for live-streaming. The gadget boasts a 360-degree rotating dash cam\u00a0and\u00a01080P night vision that\u00a0used with a smart holder, which\u00a0means that it can also double-up as a GoPro.\u00a0A wristband is also available to the capture 12-second videos.\u00a0This move is aimed at expanding Goluk's consumer base to beyond vehicle users.<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\nAmong the over 200,000 users currently, about 10% of users are from\u00a0the USA, Australia, Britain, Canada, Singapore, and Thailand.
