Grab Car Driver Requirements<\/strong><\/h2>\r\nThe basic requirements to be a Grab Driver are pretty strict and there\u2019s not much wiggle room around them. <\/span>\r\n\r\n\"grab\r\n\r\nThe rules were that drivers must be at least 21 years old with at least 2 years of driving experience. And of course, you need to be a Singaporean or Permanent Resident (PR) with a valid Class 3 driving license. For a PR, it\u2019s <\/span>stated<\/span><\/a> that you must be employed by a limousine company.<\/span>\r\n\r\nHowever, as of 2021, new private hire drivers must be Singaporeans that are at least 30 years of age. Otherwise, you won't be able to get the essential Private Hire Car Driver\u2019s Vocational License (PDVL)<\/span> to drive for private hire services like Grab. Private Hire Car Driver\u2019s Vocational License (PDVL)<\/strong><\/h4>\r\nAlthough it doesn\u2019t sound like much, getting your PDVL is a lot tougher than you think. It\u2019s so difficult that even seasoned drivers with over 20 years experience have failed the test.<\/span>\r\n\r\nLand Transport Authority (LTA) introduced the PDVL in 2017 to ensure that every driver is properly licensed and qualified to drive for private hire services. The license is similar to the Taxi Driver\u2019s Vocational License(TDVL), so drivers with TDVL need not apply for PDVL.<\/span>\r\n\r\nThe process of getting your PDVL consists of an 8-hour long training course and two test papers at the end of the training. 1. GET A CAR<\/b><\/h3>\r\nAs we all know, getting your basic work tool is not the easiest thing in Singapore. Grab makes it easier now with <\/span>GrabRentals<\/span><\/a> for those who need to rent a car. Through this programme, you\u2019ll also get to be part of their GRBeyond Loyalty Program, which offers additional incentives. However, opting for this prohibits you from driving for any other private hire company.<\/span>\r\n\r\n\"grab\r\n\r\nYou can also drive your own car, instead of renting one. This is a good choice for those who own a car and do not wish to limit themselves to just one private hire company. It\u2019s also a smarter choice because you won\u2019t be eating into your earnings every day just to pay for the rental.<\/span>\r\n\r\nIn order to provide private hire services, you\u2019ll need to <\/span>convert your vehicle\u2019s registration to a Z10\/Z11 classification<\/span><\/a>. Additionally, your car needs to have 4 doors and seats 4 passengers or more.\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\nHowever, with Singapore\u2019s expensive automotive climate, owning a car is not an accessible solution. 2. GET A COMMERCIAL INSURANCE<\/b><\/h3>\r\nGetting commercial insurance for your car is a must if you want to do private hire services. This is to protect you and your passengers in case of any unforeseen circumstances. <\/span>\r\n
